少妇晏莉冒充华医生的太太，成功骗取了一条钻石项链。珠宝店的陈老板找华医生收账，却反被指认患有精神病。晏莉带着项链和表弟打算远走高飞，为了躲避海关人员的搜查，她把项链放进了一个青年的衣袋里。晏莉急于拿回项链，偷偷藏进了青年的汽车，引起了青年女友的误会，之后她还带着表弟直接闯入青年家中。青年知道了他们的来意，便戏弄了他们一番。青年对晏莉产生了好感，看报纸了解到项链的来历后，就劝她改过自新，还开了支票给陈老板，让他撤销案件。晏莉受到感化，决定把项链变卖，用所得的钱开办工厂来帮助失业人士，最后她和青年喜结连理。
